Organize all of the ingredients – silken tofu, gluten free soy sauce, cherry tomatoes, sesame oil, olive oil, pepper, scallions, and fresh basil.

Soy-Sauced Tomatoes

In a small saucepan, combine tomatoes, soy sauce, olive oil, and black pepper (to your taste preference). Place over low heat and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, until the tomatoes start to soften and begin to burst with the juices collecting in the pan.

To assemble dish, place 4-6 slices of tofu on plates or in shallow bowls. Divide the warm tomatoes on top. Add a large drizzle of toasted sesame oil and sprinkle with scallions and basil, if using. Serve immediately.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes whole
  • 1 tablespoon gluten free soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 block silken tofu wrap in paper towels and gently press to remove excess water

Finishers:

  • Drizzle of toasted sesame oil
  • Thinly sliced scallions and/or chives optional
  • Thinly sliced basil and/or cilantro optional

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine tomatoes, soy sauce, olive oil, and black pepper (you can add more or less based on your taste preferences). Place over low heat and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, until the tomatoes start to soften and begin to burst with the juices collecting in the pan.
  • Meanwhile, cut the tofu lengthwise into 2 wide slabs and slice each slab into 1” squares.
  • To assemble dish, place 4-6 slices of tofu on plates or in shallow bowls. Divide the warm tomatoes on top. Add a large drizzle of toasted sesame oil and sprinkle with scallions and basil, if using. Serve immediately.
