Citrus Scallop Crudo
Looking to impress your guests? Serve them Citrus Scallop Crudo as an appetizer. While this dish looks impressive, it comes together quickly and effortlessly… and of course, is totally delicious. The sweetness of the sea scallops are complemented by the bright citrus flavors of the sauce, some fresh herbs, and a smidge of heat.

Organize ingredients: fresh orange juice, lemon juice, gluten free soy sauce, extra virgin olive oil, grated ginger, Sherry vinegar, sea scallops, red chile, mint leaves, and chives.
Sauce
Whisk together orange juice, lemon juice, soy sauce, oil, ginger, and Sherry vinegar in a small bowl.
Citrus Scallop Crudo
Arrange scallops on individual plates or on a platter with a small lip. Pour dressing over scallops and garnish with mint, chiles and chives. Season lightly with salt. Scallops can be served immediately or let them marinate for no more than 1/2 hour before serving.
Citrus Scallop Crudo
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice it's important to use fresh oj!
- 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons gluten free soy sauce I use San-J
- 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger peeled and finely grated
- 1/2 teaspoon Sherry vinegar if you don't have Sherry vinegar, Rice Wine Vinegar or Champagne Vinegar are good substitutes
- 1/2 pound large sea scallops side muscle removed, thinly sliced crosswise (approximately 2-3 rounds cut from each scallop)
- few slices red chile either Thai, Habanero, or Serrano thinly sliced, as always modify the amount to your tolerance for heat (if you prefer no heat, add a few pieces of red bell pepper)
- few fresh mint leaves torn if large
- 1-2 teaspoons chives thinly sliced
- season with Sea salt or Kosher Salt
