Ingredients

  • 1/3-1/2 cup Gluten Free Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki Marinade
  • 3/4 lbs. Skirt steak
  • Sesame seeds and/or sliced scallions for garnish if desired

Instructions

  • Cover skirt steak with teriyaki marinade and let marinate for 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate. (If marinating a couple of hours, take out of refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to let meat come to room temperature.)
  • Pre-heat broiler to high.
  • Place skirt steaks on a broiler pan lined with foil or parchment.
  • Once broiler is preheated, place steaks on the top rack closest to the broiler coils but not touching the coils. Keep oven door open slightly when broiling.
  • Once steaks begin to brown (approx. 7-8 minutes) turn skirt steaks over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium rare; 10-12 minutes total. The sauce should be caramelized and browned in spots.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and/or sliced scallions (if desired) and serve.

Notes

Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki is delicious on all proteins-chicken, fish, shrimp and/or tofu.
I love the Soy Vay brand and am so happy they finally made a gluten free version of their most popular sauce…Veri Veri Teriyaki.
The gluten free Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki is available at Whole Foods and online. It may also be available at other high-end markets.
If you don’t follow a gluten free diet, use the non-gluten free version of Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki. The taste is the same as the gluten free version but you will get more for your money.
This is a very easy recipe to make for a large group.  Figure 1/4 lb. steak/person.  Increase marinade so that all steaks are fully covered.
The steak can be broiled or grilled.  I prefer broiling because the steak tends to be juicier but in the summer my preferred method is grilling because there is no cleanup.
For other garnish options, consider using chopped cilantro or parsley.
