Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. filet mignon cut into 4 steaks

Marinade/Sauce

  • 1/2 cup gluten free soy sauce I use San-J
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried hot pepper flakes optional and to taste
  • lemon slices and sliced chives/scallions as garnish, optional

Instructions

  • In a medium-size bowl stir all marinade ingredients together.
  • Place filet steaks into a bowl and coat with marinade, making sure all sides of steaks are coated.
  • Then cover with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature for one hour.
  • Preheat grill on medium-high. Once heated coat grill with non-stick spray.
  • Place filets on the grill and cover. Grilling time will depend greatly on the thickness of your filets. Approximately 10 minutes on the initial side and another 8 minutes on the other side for medium rare. If using a thermometer, the internal temperature of the meat should be 130-135°.
  • While steaks are cooking, transfer leftover marinade into a small sauce pan and heat on medium-low to convert marinade into sauce.
  • Place filets on a platter and spoon over sauce.
  • Garnish with lemon slices and sliced chives/scallions, if desired.
