Ingredients
1tablespoonolive oil
1lb.haricots verts beanswashed, trimmed, and dried
season with kosher salt,pepper, and garlic powder
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large pan over high heat until oil is almost smoking.
Once oil is heated, add the beans in a single layer. You may need to cook the beans in two batches.
Leave beans undisturbed until browned and blistered, approx 3 minutes.
Then toss with tongs and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until beans are browned and blistered all over.
Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder and serve immediately or at room temperature.
Notes
I like the thin string beans best. They're called haricots verts and available at most markets including Trader Joe's and Costco. I like the ones from Trader Joe's because they are pre-washed and trimmed.If using regular beans, the cook time will be longer.If making a large quantity of beans, you will need to cook them in batches because you don't want to overcrowd the pan. For each batch, add more oil to the pan and season once the beans are cooked through.In order to blister the green beans the heat needs to be high, which may cause splattering.
